Why Worry and Not Live Life?

Posted on March 5, 2015 in General Ministry, Management, MMI, Patient Stories, Programs, Volunteering | 0 comments

My Assistant, Rachel is a very kind and considerate lady.  She has such a passion to help people and she also is regularly worried about those around her.  She shared with me recently one of her daily readings that I thought was so appropriate for those of us working in ministry and continually worrying about all that is going on throughout our team.

He can handle

27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? – Matthew 6:26

How many hours a day do we spend worrying about life’s challenges?  Sure, we are always trying to get things done and perform our roles in an appropriate manner, but how much time is wasted wondering about “What If”?  This is one of life’s biggest drains as we get so worried about things that we can’t even control that we forget to live in the moment.  God has made it very clear that we are not to live this way.  Think about it, how much would our life change if you didn’t worry for one moment for the next week?  I can guarantee you that your life will be a lot more enjoyable and you will see all the good going on around you.

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

Talk about God having our backs during times of need.  We just have to take the time to seek His guidance and place our faith and trust in Him.  We should not waste any time worrying about things we cannot control.  We therefore should take the opportunity to live life, make a difference in the lives of others, and stop getting all worked up over the small stuff.  It’s pretty awesome when you think about it.  Every time you step out that door, God is right there with you.  He has made it clear to not worry and present your challenges to Him for guidance.

I can promise you that without this relationship with God, operating a ministry can be quite overwhelming.  There are people around the world that are putting themselves into difficult situations in order to reach the poorest of the poor.  We have to be able to oversee and support the efforts of the ministry and are solely reliant on the gifts of others to do our work.  That is a huge burden that we would never be able to handle by ourselves.  The great news is that God carries the burden for us and we in turn are at His service to impact His work.

Do you, your family, and friends a favor and place your faith and worry into God’s hands.  Jesus gave the direction to pray and pray often.  Take the time to listen, you will have the answer to your concerns reveal themselves in God’s own timing.  While you wait, live!  Live the life that God wants you to live and use your gifts to help give to others so that they be multiplied many fold.  Give and Give Often!
