Who is Jesus?

There are many that handle this question in a variety of ways.  There are world leaders that spend great effort to deflect the question for political purposes or to not “offend” people of other faiths, beliefs, etc.  There are also people that define themselves as Christians but treat other Christians in a manner worse than those who do not believe.  We see it all the time in ministry, but at the end of the day, there is only one answer to this question.

U2 Frontman, Bono, answers “Who is Jesus?”

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  Those that choose to object, re-define, or try to tell the story in a different way are struggling to answer the question.  Does that mean we should sit in judgement?  No, because if you are a follower of Jesus you have been commanded to love your neighbor as you love yourself.  We are to be missional in our actions and to represent ourselves as followers of Jesus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Talk about a tough job, as we all fail and are sinners, but it is through the sacrifice of Jesus that we have been saved.  The Son of God sacrificed His life so that we as believers would be forgiven of our sins.

This brings us to the challenge of living our lives.  As a follower of Jesus, we are called to work to ensure that those around us are impacted in a positive way.  Those that profess their faith in Jesus should be held accountable for their actions, just as Jesus did when he entered the temple to find those trying to profit from the faith of others.  Our World, National, Local,  Ministry Leaders, and Community need to be held to the same level of accountability for their actions.  Accountability does not mean sacrificing respect, love, and tolerance for others, but it means to be who you represent to be.  A follower of Jesus is not weak, but strong thanks to their faith.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  He died so that my sins would be forgiven.  All that we have, all that we are, is due to His love for you and me!  The greatest gift we have ever been given…share this gift with the world!
