There is an old adage, there is no “I” in Team. Though this may be a common phrase, it still is very accurate especially when it relates to Ministry work. There are many that do not want the work of the Ministry to succeed, and sometimes you see the challenges coming from sources that used to be on your own side. Today, we will look at the meaning of TEAM and how its success is directly tied to everyone working as one to achieve a common goal.

Working in the business world and then working in Ministry has some similar challenges. There are many examples of people that want to work in ministry, but only to a point where it benefits them. This is very sad, but something that is seen regularly when individuals that started with good intentions, over time move away from those intentions, and it becomes about the person, not the cause. It’s very sad and there are many ministries that do not survive due to these issues. We see it regularly and work hard to ensure that this is never allowed to develop.

Why would anyone want to do this? Comfort. The ministry becomes a part of their own persona and the individuals struggle to separate the cause from their own person. Did God bless this ministry for their own purpose, or His purpose? There are also a group of “enablers” that the individual will surround themselves with in order to create a haven in which they can do good work on the surface, but behind the scenes are about their own ego. It’s a shame, but it does happen and we must all work to break down those havens and keep the work of the ministry focused on His work, not someone else’s.

The first step in dealing with this very important issue is to form a strong team that holds each other accountable in all that they say and do. There is no decision made in a vacuum, but as a team with leaders that lead in unison, not apart. We are doing this as we speak at MMI. We are assembling one of the best, energetic teams of leaders, staff, and personnel possible to ensure that every gift God has provided is optimized to its utmost potential. MMI is not about any one person, but about a common goal to reach the poorest of the poor and help them to have a quality life. We are all one body in Christ functioning together to achieve success thanks to the blessings we have been provided.

The next step is to not be diverted from your focus. There are those that will continue to place roadblocks to keep you from being successful. A team, not together and focused on a common cause, could be stalled due to these roadblocks and then the work doesn’t get done. The enemy will try his best to do just this, and will work even harder the better the ministry does. A focused TEAM will accomplish God’s work with His light providing the light upon our path.

If you seek to make an impact on the less fortunate, we want you on our team. The work is hard, the challenges are many, but the reward is incredible. We are one TEAM at MMI and together we were able to directly impact over 542,000 people last year with services greater than US$82 Million. That is great, but it is only just the beginning. If you have a week, two, or even a year or two. Join us! Together we can help you to find a way to share your blessings with the world.
