Love Thy Neighbor

It’s interesting tonight to see on the news that Amercian Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is conducting his own battle against what he considers an unjust healthcare system being implemented in the United States. Forget which side of this issue you are on, but you have to admire someone that is willing to put himself out there to fight for those that do not have a voice.

Courage is not an easy commodity to come by these days. There are so many people willing to sit by and watch those with a louder voice get all the attention. If you think about it, its a shame that people have come to accept the status quo and not be willing to leave their comfort zone and stand up for what is right. There are many of people throughout the world that will die if others are not willing to use their gifts, money, and skills to reach out to them and help. We are called to be people of passion, character, and concern and do to otherwise would be considered a waste of the blessings we have been provided.

God has given each one of us intelligence, skill, and wealth. Did you earn it yourself, well yes, maybe you did but only because you have been blessed with the ability to earn it. What are you going to do with it? You cannot take it with you when you die and now is the time to make the impact on the world to determine what the legacy you leave on this earth will be. Our time is short and the final judge of our efforts while on this earth will be God. I am reminded throughout the Bible of the many stories used to encourage us to use the gifts that God has provided to please God while we have a chance on this earth.

So what will it be? Will you answer the call to love thy neighbor and share the blessings that God has provided you. This step out of your comfort zone is not easy for many, but once you have done it, be prepared for an incredible blessing in return. It takes courage to set aside the world in which you live and reach across to help those that have all but lost hope. It’s what God has commissioned all of us to do, the question is will you answer His call? Love thy neighbor and be prepared for an unbelievable amount of love in return!
