Is God in Halloween?

I’ll admit it, I have never been a big fan of Halloween.  For many years, I considered it a time to glorify bad things, blood, evil, etc.  It wasn’t until I became a parent that I realized that Halloween is what you decide to make of it.  I soon realized that all these special kids running from house to house were all God’s kids and He was very much in their lives and those of their parents and grandparents.

Many years ago, Jill and I helped to start a Hayride, Trick or Treat, and Cookout for our friends, family, and community.  It was a lot of work, but the looks on the kids faces made it all worthwhile.  The tradition stopped as our kids grew up and for a few years, our community really stopped embracing the idea of Trick or Treating.  Thankfully, that all changed again this year.  It was so much fun to help the new crew pull together a new Hayride, Trick or Treat, and Smore’s.  I had no idea how much I missed seeing all those Little Princesses, Ninja’s. and yes even some pretty scary zombies having the time of their life.  It sure brings life into perspective.

Is God involved in Halloween?  He sure is.  There was a lot of love out there as the kids prepared to go on the Hayride decked out in their costumes.  Even the Residents of our community were dressed up and could not wait to see those little faces come knocking.  God was front and center, as He wants us to have fun, love one another, and celebrate the gift of life, children, etc.  We are so blessed to have the chance to see the love exude from all ages in an effort to bring joy to those around us.

That is what God is all about!  Love!
