It’s taken a day to mourn and get our minds around the terrible tragedy that took place in Sutherland Springs, TX at the First Baptist Church.  The various media pundits and politicians immediately are jumping in to spin their agendas, when the most important story is that evil attacked people that had come together in prayer and worship.  Morality and prayer are under attack and we must not allow political stances to divert the attention away from this fact.

pray for Texas

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  – 2 Chronicles 7:14

2017 has been a really tough year around the world and especially in our home state of Texas.  Hurricane Harvey decided to spend a couple of weeks bringing havoc from Corpus Christi, all over Houston, and then on to Beaumont.  Now a deranged evil person has decided to go into a small rural church and try to kill every single person that had gathered to worship.  Each instance is horrific, but what happened yesterday was pure evil.  Innocent, hard working, salt of the earth, families were joined together in their safe place to give thanks, celebrate life, and refocus their attention on God.

Let there be no doubt that evil exists in the world.  It has one goal: to cause as much hurt and despair in the most chaotic way possible.  The enemy is very intentional and the ONLY answer to addressing evil is for society to regain its moral compass and stop allowing God to be removed from it.  Regulations are not going to stop evil, a relationship with God is what is needed.  That doesn’t mean we all stop and just say “God, handle it!”, but what it means is that we must pray and pray often and seek God’s guidance in our actions, laws, and how we exist as a society.  There is no surprise here as we have seen faith and moral issues pushed to the side to make way for political correctness.  We serve an all-loving God, but He in no way said we are supposed to be weak and stupid.  We have to fight evil head on with God fully in control of our moral compass.  It’s evil at work, and a society with God fully engaged is the only answer to bringing order to chaos.

prayer mourning

Over the next few days, we will learn more about this deranged person and what motivated him to kill so many innocent people.  There will be political spins on all sides to try and achieve their desired objectives, etc.  We must work hard to ensure that most important agenda is not lost in the discussion….bringing God back to our society and lives.  People have a right to choose as they see fit, but the current climate of the loudest to complain and protest….drives the agenda, must stop.  It time for God fearing people to bring God back to the forefront and make it clear that evil will not be allowed in our lives.  Let’s be clear, evil will continue to try and cause chaos, but a society that fears God and seeks His guidance, will always win the battle.
