It’s taken a day to mourn and get our minds around the terrible tragedy that took place in Sutherland Springs, TX at the First Baptist Church. The various media pundits and politicians immediately are jumping in to spin their agendas, when the most important story is that evil attacked people that had come together in prayer and worship. Morality and prayer are under attack and we must not allow political stances to divert the attention away from this fact.
There have been numerous worldwide tragedies in 2017. As we enter the biggest giving time of the year its important that we make the gifts that God has provided us count in service for others. Over the next few months, we will see plenty stories, pictures, and videos that bring attention to various needs. There is no question that needs are many and you can make a difference!
The wealth of emotions flowing through most Americans this morning are of deep sadness for the victims of an overnight shooting during a concert in Las Vegas. The grief is overwhelming and it’s at times like these that we see our faith and trust in our fellow man be tested. Through tragedy, however, we do see the unselfish service of First Responders, Off Duty Officers, and good hearted civilians that risked their own lives to try and save the lives of others.
The headline today is about people wanting to use their First Amendment Right to free speech and make a statement. Men and Women have fought for over 241 years to protect this “Right”, but that in no way means anyone has to like what you have to say and what forum is appropriate for expression?
